1. A display case with an oilcan.
2. A stand onto which a men's bicycle, brand 'Phoenix', is fixed. The movement of the rear wheel that the cyclist sets in motion, is mechanically transmitted to a mechanical carrousel. The color of the construction refers to the location where I was encamped during my military service: the Orange Barracks in Schaarsbergen.
Via a large rotating plate, the rear wheel controls the driving mechanism of the carrousel.
The carrousel: The image of a soldier orbits the image of a canon. Each time, the soldier's appears in the canon's field of fire, he gets shot and collapses. At the opposite point he rises up agian, etc., captured in an incessant round dance of destruction and resurrection.
3. An LCD monitor mounted to the bike's handlebars. The monitor shows moving images of a flying spheric object,that are visible only to persons who mount the bicycle.
4. Underneath the step: a videorecorder, providing input for the LCD monitor.
5. A 16mm film projector with archive shots of the Gulfwar (1990-'91) edited in a loop.
The projector projects the endless sequence of the destruction of a military vehicle on the back of the cyclist.
6. The recording of Heidegger's lecture 'Der Satz der Identität' with audio equipment.
